Library in need of used books
The Friends of the Quarryville Library need gently used books for its next book sale in the spring. Donations of all types of books, except encyclopedias, text books, magazines and Readers' Digest books, can be dropped off in the little red wagon inside the second set of doors at the Quarryville Library, at 357 Buck Road, Quarryville. Curious George comes to the library
Curious George, star of the "Curious George" book series by Margaret and H.A. Rey, will be visiting the Quarryville Library for a special story time on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 10:30 a.m. Curious George will appear for photos and autographs and may even take part in a few activities. Children will hear stories about some of Curious George's Adventures, do a craft and have a special snack. The program is free and open to children ages 3 and up. Registration is required.
Smith Parents Association Benefit Game
The community is invited to a Parent Association benefit school/faculty basketball game at Smith Middle School on Friday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. Admission is $2 at the door. Proceeds support the Parents Association.
Valley View to hold dinner/concert
Valley View Family Restaurant will hold a dinner and gospel concert on Saturday, April 1. Dinner is at 5 p.m. and the concert starts at 6 p.m. For reservations or more information, call 548-2828.
Caring singles to meet
Caring Singles will meet Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Quality Inn, 2363 Oregon Pike, Lancaster. The topic will be Medicare prescription drug coverage. The cost is $3 for members, $4 for non-members and there is no charge for people who are meeting for the first time.

Qi Gong session set
The Quarryville Library is offering a six-week session of Qi Gong classes for all ages on Wednesday mornings from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. now through Feb. 15. Qi Gong is closely related to Tai Chi and uses slow, graceful, low-impact, controlled movements and stationary postures to improve balance, blood circulation and coordination. Teen MOPS meets twice a month
Teen MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers), a new group for pregnant teens or teen mothers who have preschool-age children, meets the first and third Wednesday of each month until May from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in room 234 at Solanco High School.
Teen MOPS is a support group that does fun activities. There is no charge to join and childcare is provided. Teens do not have to be Solanco students, or have gone to Solanco to attend.

Sisters in Christ's annual event for women to be held Saturday
Sisters in Christ, a group of local women, will be holding their annual event for women at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4 at Calvary Church, 1051 Landis Valley Road, Lancaster. In case of snow, the event will be held Feb. 11. The speakers will be Sisters in Christ members Tawn Battiste, Cathy Peifer, Missy Reynolds, Joni Rogan, Jean Ross and Dannel Wissler.
