Quarryville church hosts the Prevention Group on January 17PHS, a mobile screening group from Harrisburg will be available to offer you five quick, painless, non-invasive health tests to see if you are at risk for a serious health problem. On Thursday, Jan. 17 beginning at 9 a.m. screenings will be at Mechanic Grove Church of the Brethren, 1392 Robert Fulton Highway in Quarryville. The first screening can tell your risk of a stroke from a carotid artery screening. This screening uses the latest ultrasound technology to visualize the carotid arteries in your neck for plaque build up, which can lead to a stroke.
There will also be a screenings available that looks for dangerous abdominal aneurysms, heart disease, bone density and pulmonary function. The tests, which are non-invasive, are read by a board certified physician and are priced at a nominal cost. The results are given directly to you and you are referred back to your own doctor.
