Charles J. Schuermann, 87, of Downingtown, formerly of St. Louis, Mo., died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008, at Brandywine Hospital.He was the widower of Annette Crain Schuermann, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage.
Born in St. Louis, Mo., he was the son of the late Charles and Caroline Toenesketter Schuermann.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of sergeant.
He worked in sales for Georgia Pacific for 30 years, retiring in 1986. A resident of Downingtown for 10 years, he was a member of St. Joseph Church.
He enjoyed bowling and while living in St. Louis was president of the Clayton-University City Kiwanis Club from 1989 to 1990.
He is survived by a daughter, Carol Leary and husband, David, of Honey Brook; a sister, Margaret Patterson of Dallas, Texas; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday, Feb. 7, at St. Joseph Church, 338 Manor Ave., Downingtown.
Interment was on Saturday, Feb. 9, in Calvary Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
