Elizabeth "Betty" Sheridan, 79, of Kennett Square died on Tuesday, June 29, with her family and friends by her side.

She was the daughter of William A. Sheridan and Susan Crawford Sheridan, and was a life-long resident of Kennett Square.

Since her graduation from West Chester College, Ms. Sheridan has lived a life of service to others, working as a school nurse at the Avon Grove School District for over 30 years, as a tireless volunteer at St. Michael Lutheran Church, The Encore store, and for organizations like the American Cancer Society. She will be remembered for her courage in the face of adversity, her kindness to others, and sense of humor.

She is survived by her younger brother William C. Sheridan; her two nephews Brian A. Sheridan and William M. Sheridan; her niece Lauren A. Sheridan; the Yeatman-Carlino family; and the DiBiase family. She was predeceased by long-time companion, Joseph Hovonitz.

A memorial service was July 3 at St. Michael Lutheran Church, Unionville.
