Coffee House Cabaret Friday, May 23 at 6:30 p.m. The Oxford Art Series presents the Newark Dixie Ramblers started in 1983 as an off shoot of the Newark Community Band, first meeting at West Park Place Elementary School in Newark. The band consists of six to ten members with music scored for each instrument, playing Dixieland, Jazz and Swing music many oldies but always, that "toe-tapping good old familiar music." They have played for State Parks, Garden Clubs, Retirement Homes, Nursing Homes, Winterthur, Fairs and some private parties. Also, for the opening of the DE Theatre Company several years ago and most recently downtown at the Wilmington, Waterfront. Strangers come up at times and try to direct the band. Once they had a drummer who couldn't read music, but "could play a mean penny whistle." They have played on hillsides being careful not to slide down. The group has always been like a "big happy family" that enjoys playing, making people happy and having fun at the same time.

You will hear a wide variety of music including marches, show tunes, movie themes, light classics and old favorites in the Dixieland style.

Attend and enjoy an evening of snacks and dancing.
