Jorge Ayllon, 16, a junior at Avon Grove High School, has been named the student of the month for November by the Avon Grove Rotary.

Jorge was presented to the group by assistant principal Chris Matsanka, who said the student is "sweet and hard working and carries a difficult course load." His current grade point average is just under 4.0.

Jorge addressed the group and talked about his interests and hopes for the future.

He said he came here from Mexico when he was 3 years old and wants to go to France someday. He is interested in public speaking but is also fond of chemistry. In fact, he wants to study that in college.

He is in the All Cultures Club and frequently makes the morning announcements for the school. He is also in the Video Club and plays on the soccer and volleyball teams. In addition, he goes to the Upward Bound program at Lincoln University and helps out with the CCD training course at his church.

Jorge said he would like to go to the University of Richmond or Franklin and Marshall College, because he wants a smaller college.

He has a brother and three sisters.
