VarsityThe Avon Grove High School varsity ice hockey team has recently skated to a pair of victories over Salesianum (Del.) and Sun Valley.

This past Friday night the Devils beat Salesianum by a score of 4-2. Dan Shirilla led Avon Grove with two goals. Also scoring in the win was AJ Cerullo and Troy Scott. Goalie Kevin Propst made 26 saves in the win.

Prior to the victory over Sale-sianum, Avon Grove rolled to its first ever Ches-Mont League victory by routing Sun Valley 9-4. Shirilla and Nick Shrewsbury each netted a pair of goals in the win. Also scoring was Kyle Kelly, Andrew Miller, Tommy Cooney and AJ Cerullo.

Adding assists were Nick Guisti, JR Willard, Troy Scott, David Cyron and Alex Baughman.

Junior Varsity

The Avon Grove High School junior varsity ice hockey team suffered a hard-fought 3-2 loss to Malvern Prep in its most recent game.

Middle School

The Avon Grove middle school ice hockey team recently suffered an 8-3 season opening loss to West Chester. The Red Devils, who were the No. 1 ranked team last year with a perfect 4-0 record while competing at the Class AA level, are now playing AAA this season. In its first game, Avon Grove received two goals from Kyle Daly and one from Kurt Schmidt. Schmidt added an assist, as did Tiernen Senigen. Avon Grove next faces West Chester East on Nov. 23 at 7:45 p.m. at IceLine.
