Kyle Daly's four-goal game helped lift the Avon Grove Hockey Association B team to a 6-3 victory over West Chester East in recent ice hockey action.
AG's CJ Brown made his presence known after being sidelined with an injury, as he netted the first goal of the game. A pass from Ryan Grove to Nick Donlon and then to Brown gave the Red Devils the 1-0 advantage. Donlon once again shot on the Vikings goalie and the puck bounced off both posts and hugged the line. Avon Grove punched it in for the game's second goal. Mid-way through the first period, with Sarah Kelly and Keith Franciosa speeding down the ice, they passed the puck off to Daly who beat the goalie for a 3-0 Avon Grove lead. Daly scored again on a top shelf shot assisted by Kyle Chipman to end the period with Avon Grove up 4-0.
The excellent defense of Billy Dixson and Nick Dow provided offensive opportunities throughout the entire game. With solid defense and the quick speed of Kelly, Daly scored his hat trick halfway through the second period. The Vikings answered with a shot, hitting the crossbar and bouncing in just past the glove of Avon Grove goalie Taylor Connolly, to end the period 5-1.
In the third period, Tyler Orner and Amy Shirilla both had scoring chances but were denied by the Vikings goalie. Shirilla made a bullet pass to Matthew Colgan who made an on the tape pass to Daly. Daly then deked the goalie for his fourth goal of the game, lifting the Red Devils to a 6-1 lead. The Vikings were determined to get back in the game and quickly scored two goals. With time running out, Connolly made terrific saves, preserving the Red Devils win.
