EAST NOTTINGHAM—A 41-year-old man has been arrested after he traveled to East Nottingham Township to meet up with a 15-year-old girl that he had been communicating with on SnapChat.
Kevin Lewis Stopford was arrested Wednesday and faces a host of criminal charges.
State police at the Avondale barracks received a Childline report on Monday that a man had been communicating with an underage teen girl on SnapChat. SnapChat is a multimedia messaging app used globally.
The criminal investigation unit followed up with the teen girl and assumed her identity on SnapChat. The investigation found the identity of the man to be Stopford.
Police said Stopford continued to solicit the child for sexual acts and wanted a sexual encounter. On Wednesday, Stopford traveled to the Nottingham Inn in East Nottingham, where police said he planned to meet the child. When he arrived, he was taken into custody.
Stopford was charged with unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of minors, criminal use of a communication facility, criminal attempt of sexual abuse of children, criminal attempt of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, criminal attempt of aggravated indecent assault, criminal attempt of indecent assault, and criminal attempt of statutory rape.
