Benefit breakfast and bake sale set in Wakefield
Fulton Grange, Wakefield Lions, Solanco FFA and Solanco Young Farmers are sponsoring a benefit breakfast and bake sale, which is scheduled for Saturday, March 11 from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Fulton Grange in Wakefield. Proceeds benefit Jonny Arrowsmith, who sustained a traumatic brain injury from a car accident in 2003. Donations are $6/adults and kids under 6 are free. Takeouts will be available. Bingo at the fire hall held every Tuesday

Knitting class scheduled to begin
Golden Light Wellness Center is offering a beginners knitting class which starts Tuesday, March 14 at 7 p.m. The class will last for five weeks. Celtic Balladeer Charlie Zahm to perform at Oxford Friends Meeting
The Friends Folk Club along with the Oxford Friends Meeting is proud to announce the return visit of Celtic Balladeer Charlie Zahm Friday, March 17 at 8 p.m. Charlie Zahm is one of the most popular soloists at Celtic music festivals, Scottish Games and Maritime music events anywhere east of the Mississippi. Lions Club to host ham and oyster dinner
Oxford Lions Club will host a ham and oyster dinner Saturday, March 18 at the Union Fire Company Banquet Hall,. The Lions will be serving from 4 to 7 p.m. and the cost is $14/person. Scholarship fundraiser to be held at Burger King
Burger King will be hosting a Fundraiser Night, during which the funds generated will be donated to the Laura E. Pattinson Memorial Scholarship Fund. From 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, a portion of each purchase inside the restaurant will be donated to the fund. Each year one student, majoring in Music, is selected to receive the scholarship, which will pay $500 per year over four years. Pattinson was killed in 1999 in an auto accident. Her parents Karen and Roland Pattinson began the fund in honor of her.
Red Brick Players set to present "Godspell"
"Godspell," one of the biggest off-Broadway and Broadway rock-opera successes of all time, will be presented by The Octorara Red Brick Players March 24, 25, at 7:30 p.m., March 26 at 2 p.m., March 31, April 1 at 7:30 p.m. and April 2 at 2 p.m. Written by Stephen Schwartz, Godspell presents the life of Jesus in an inspirational musical format designed for the entire family. Schwartz is also known for Pippin, and his newest Broadway smash hit, Wicked. The Red Brick Players are sponsored in part by the Octorara Community Recreation Commission, which is located at 3095 Limestone Rd. in Cochranville. Computer classes offered at enior center
The Oxford Area Senior Center is offering affordable computer classes for students of all ages (seniors and non-seniors) with hands-on instruction. New new classes will begin March 27. Registration is going on now. There is limited space so call early to reserve your spot. Annual Community Service Awards Dinner set
The Oxford Area Chamber of Commerce, along with the various service organizations in the Oxford Area, will hold the annual Community Service Awards Dinner. The dinner honors the person and/or organization receiving the Outstanding Service to the Community Award. The dinner will be held Thursday, March 30 at the Wyncote Golf and Country Club, Oxford. Social hour will begin at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. There will be live entertainment, community speakers and conclude with award presentations. Tickets are $36 each. Invitations have been sent to all Oxford Area Chamber of Commerce members with RSVP requirements. All reservations must be accompanied by payment. Oxford American Legion Baseball spring tryouts scheduled
Attention students between the ages of 13 and 19 who live in the Oxford and Octorara school districts, the spring tryouts for Oxford American Legion Baseball are scheduled for April 1 and 2 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Lincoln University baseball field. Mission trip for Katrina Relief looking for volunteers
An Oxford couple is organizing a group of local volunteers who will be heading to New Orleans, La., April 16 to 22 to help rebuild the city. The group will be working with a mission organization called RHINO (Rebuilding Hope In New Orleans), based in St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church. There is work suitable for anyone in generally good health and 15 or over. Room and board is provided by the church at a cost of $15 per person/per day. Volunteers must arrange their own transportation to the city, but a shuttle from the airport is available. Space is limited.
