Class of 1996 reunion being planned

Bingo at the Fire Hall held every Tuesday

The Union Fire Co. No. 1 Banquet Hall will host bingo every Tuesday night at 6:45 p.m. There will be several progressive jackpots during each evening session, as well as a grand jackpot worth $1,000. Call Beckey at 610-932-4485 for more information.

Scholarship fundraiser to be held at Burger King

Burger King will be hosting a Fundraiser Night, during which the funds generated will be donated to the Laura E. Pattinson Memorial Scholarship Fund. From 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, a portion of each purchase inside the restaurant will be donated to the fund. Each year one student, majoring in Music, is selected to receive the scholarship, which will pay $500 per year over four years. Pattinson was killed in 1999 in an auto accident.

Red Brick Players set to present 'Godspell'

"Godspell," will be presented by The Octorara Red Brick Players March 24, 25, at 7:30 p.m., March 26 at 2 p.m., March 31, April 1 at 7:30 p.m. and April 2 at 2 p.m. The Red Brick Players are sponsored in part by the Octorara Community Recreation Commission, which is located at 3095 Limestone Road in Cochranville. The recreation commission is a multi municipal, non-profit organization that is committed to providing quality programming, education and events for the greater Octorara Area. Oxford kindergarten and first grade registration set

The Oxford Area School District will hold kindergarten and new first grade student registration for the 2006-07 school year from Monday, March 27 through Friday, March 31. Registration will take place at the district administration building, 125 Bell Tower Lane, Oxford, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. At the time of registration, your child will have a pre-kindergarten screening by a Jordan Bank School staff member. Day of registration is determined alphabetically (by last name) as follows: Monday, March 27 - A-C; Tuesday, March 28 - D-I; Wednesday, March 29 - J-M; Thursday, March 30 - N-R; and Friday, March 31 - S-Z. These are the only scheduled registration dates. Children entering kindergarten must be five years old on or before August 31, 2006. At the time of registration, parents will need to bring their kindergarten child and the completed Student Enrollment Packet, which are available at the administartion building or any Oxford area public school. These forms are also available on the district Web site at www.oxford.k12.pa.us.

Computer classes offered at senior center

The Oxford Area Senior Center is offering affordable computer classes for students of all ages (seniors and non-seniors) with hands-on instruction. New classes will begin March 27. A question and answer session is scheduled for March 21 from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. and April 5 from 10 to 11 a.m. Call the Senior Center at 610-932-5244 and ask Colleen for details and registration information or stop by and pick up a course description and schedule.

Friendship Quilters to host free lecture

In celebration of National Quilt Month, the Friendship Quilters of Southern Chester County will host a free lecture featuring Jane Davidson, renowned Chester County historic preservationalist, Monday, March 27 at 7 p.m. The presentation will be held at the Nottingham School Large Group Instruction Area. Davidson will present her personal collection of five generations of quilts and speak on the history of quilting during the past century. The presentation is open to the public. Annual Community Service Awards Dinner set

The Oxford Area Chamber of Commerce, along with the various service organizations in the Oxford Area, will hold the annual Community Service Awards Dinner. The dinner honors the person and/or organization receiving the Outstanding Service to the Community Award. The dinner will be held Thursday, March 30 at the Wyncote Golf and Country Club, Oxford. Social hour will begin at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. There will be live entertainment, community speakers and conclude with award presentations. Tickets are $36 each. Oxford American Legion Baseball spring tryouts scheduled

Attention students between the ages of 13 and 19 who live in the Oxford and Octorara school districts, the spring tryouts for Oxford American Legion Baseball are scheduled for April 1 and 2 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Lincoln University baseball field. Mission trip for Katrina Relief looking for volunteers

An Oxford couple is organizing a group of local volunteers who will be heading to New Orleans, La., April 16 to 22 to help rebuild the city. The group will be working with a mission organization called RHINO (Rebuilding Hope In New Orleans), based in St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church. There is work suitable for anyone in generally good health and 15 or over. Room and board is provided by the church at a cost of $15 per person/per day. Volunteers must arrange their own transportation to the city, but a shuttle from the airport is available. Space is limited.
