KENNETT SQUARE — West Branch Distilling Company’s handcrafted vodka was awarded a gold medal by The Fifty Best for “Best Domestic Vodka” in 2020.
“I was surprised by the invitation to join this highly regarded tasting competition and am glad we decided to enter. It’s rewarding to know that West Branch shares the same high level of quality and craftsmanship seen in some of the best distilleries in the U.S. and abroad,” said Owner/Distiller Kevin Roberts, West Branch Distilling Company.
The Fifty Best has once again shined its spotlight on American-made craft vodka by hosting a tasting where 34 contenders across the nation were evaluated for the distinguished “Best Domestic Vodka” awards for 2020.
A blend of corn and rye in small batches, West Branch Distilling Company’s Handcrafted Vodka is distilled multiple times to create a fresh and versatile spirit. Whether blended in a cocktail or served on the rocks, it is crisp and smooth with a subtle sweetness and finishes with a hint of spice.
Using professional criteria, the pre-qualified panel of judges blind-tasted the vodkas and rated them individually on a 1-5 point scoring system with 5 being the highest. After tallying the scores, medals were awarded based on the judges' impressions.
According to the judges’ tasting notes, West Branch Handcrafted Vodka, distilled from locally-sourced corn and rye, garnered these commentaries:
