But neither could completely succeed in its goals as West Chester Rustin and Unionville ended in a 2-2 tie in a Ches-Mont showdown Friday night at Ice Line.

"Both teams needed a good night," said Rustin head coach Nick Russo.

The Hornets scored early in the first period and never let up the lead. Later in the first period, Oxford scored again, taking a 2-0 advantage.

<![CDATA[Field Hockey: Unionville ousted in second overtime]]> AMBLER >> District 1 champion Unionville had its chances in the Nov. 4 PIAA Class AAA first-round field hockey contest against Cumberland Valley at Wisshickon High School. Unfortuantely for them, not enough went in.

Emma Way scored three minutes into the second overtime to give the Eagles a 3-2 victory over the Indians.

<![CDATA[Ice Hockey: Unionville's goaltender steps up in win]]> WEST GOSHEN >> It may only be the first full week of the EPIHA Ches-Mont hockey season, but it was still a big game between Unionville and the defending State Champion West Chester Rustin boys teams Friday night.

Not to mention both teams came into the game undefeated.

The game did not disappoint for the parents and quite large student sections for both sides as the Indians won 3-2, with much credit going to junior goaltender Michael Hansen.

<![CDATA[Girls Cross Country: Unionville, Conestoga second at PIAA meet]]> Hershey >> On Saturday morning some of the local high schools put their best foot forward in the PIAA Cross Country Championships at the Parkview Cross Country Course.

Entering the girls Class AAA meet, the biggest unknown was if Unionville could repeat as state champions. The Indians gave an excellent effort, but came up a bit short, losing to Pennsbury by five points.

The first two trips brought nothing but heartache, as Unionville had to settle for runner-up finishes each time, most recently, falling to Central Bucks South in overtime in 2012.
