"We all get older, but it doesn't mean you are dead," he said. "You can still accomplish things in old age, and reach your goals, and all it takes is determination."

Dickerson, 75, who lives in Kennett Township outside of Mendenhall with his wife Lucille, recently earned a national record for powerlifting from the Natural Powerlifting Federation.

As orientation began last week for some of the employees who will work at the 100 Applied Bank Boulevard location in the Brandywine Mills shopping center off Route 202, store administrators said the Wegmans south of West Chester still has openings.

<![CDATA[National Night Out strengthens bond with residents, police in Kennett Square]]> KENNETT SQUARE>>It wasn't too long ago that East Linden Street in Kennett Square was ruled by drug dealers, parents were afraid to let their children outside, and vandalism was rampant.

Those days are long gone, thanks to a local initiative by neighbors to take their block back.

So it was fitting that the Third Annual National Night Out, an event designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness and generate support for local anti-crime programs, was held Tuesday night on East Linden Street.

Kennett Square Council Monday night approved a temporary use permit for a beer garden at the site of the old cannery building located at 360 Cream Street, just off the 400 block of Birch Street.

Beer gardens are very popular in Europe and are just starting to take hold in the United States.

Marlborough]]> For 21st-centurymedia.com East Marlborough supervisors' chairman Cuyler Walker informed residents that Common Pleas Court Judge William Mahon has ruled against Lance and Sandra Shortt, the owners of the Inn at Whitewing Farm.

The Shortts had taken the township to court in what was just the latest stage in a long-running battle to hold weddings and other public events at the bed and breakfast on Valley Road north of Longwood Gardens.
