<![CDATA[Embreeville developers argue against ordinance change]]> West Bradford >> Developers with housing plans at the former Embreeville State Hospital property challenged a recent change to a township zoning ordinance, arguing the township is not meeting its "fair share obligations" for regional growth.

During a township zoning hearing Wednesday, Brian Nagle, attorney for Embreeville Redevelopment LLP, challenged the validity of an ordinance amendment that added medium and high density residential use to some properties in the township now zoned as industrial.

The Brandywine Base Ball Club, based in West Chester but playing in Pocopson Park, is in its second year of existence -- or re-existence for that matter -- of playing vintage, 19th century style games of America's favorite past-time sport.

Cypress St. in Kennett Square on August 15. A 5'6" male with medium build entered the bank at approximately 8:50 A.M. and announced a hold up. The suspect was wearing a zip up grey hoodie with a "PUMA" logo on the left chest.

<![CDATA[Stephanie Gulden Jackson]]> Stefanie Gulden Jackson, beloved sister, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2014, in Corte Madera, California, after a courageous two-and-a-half year battle with cancer. She was 75.

Jackson was born in New York on December 18, 1938, to Ruth and Immo Gulden. She had a happy childhood in Rumson, New Jersey, with her brother, Paul.

<![CDATA[Avon Grove School Board prepares student athletic policy]]> PENN >> School is not open yet, but student athletes are already getting ready for the fall season with practices and training camps.

As they do, the Avon Grove School Board is starting work on changing district Policy 123 on Interscholastic Athletics.

At the August 14 meeting, the school board approved a waiver to a portion of the school policy on student athletics to allow the athletic director to reschedule games or practises to Sunday without getting board approval first.

<![CDATA[Corn harvest begins for Chester County Food Bank]]> HIGHLAND >> It's a little late this year, but corn is now on the menu for participants in the services of the Chester County Food Bank.

The agency based in West Chester distributes food throughout the year to people in need through the many food cupboards and outreach programs in the area.

On Saturday, a seven-member team came early to Gibbs Farm in Cochranville to harvest corn for three hours in the fields just off Limestone Road in Highland Township.

<![CDATA[Oxford Council hears speeding complaints]]> OXFORD >> In July, residents came to borough council complaining about speeding on Mt. Vernon Street. Their complaints were heard again this month, along with other residents who have concerns about speeding on North Third Street and overall throughout the borough.

Mt. Vernon residents have noticed that the white lines used to clock speeders on the street have been repainted, but their effectiveness is in question.
