Two arrested for dealing heroin, cocaine in Kennett Square

A New York man and a Delaware man were arrested for distributing heroin in Kennett Square following a two-month investigation by Kennett Square police.

Jean Carlos Bernabel, 24, of 290 Balcom Ave., Bronx, N.Y., and Eduardo Flores, 23, of 142 Highland Ave., New Castle, Del., were arrested in a sting operation July 1 on the 500 block of South Union Street in Kennett Square.

During the arrest, $4,730 in cash was seized from both Bernabel and Flores, along with a 1999 Audi A-6 station wagon owned by Bernabel, according to Kennett Square police. Also seized at th time of arrest were 30 wax baggies of heroin and one ounce of cocaine.

Ed Zunino, Kennett Square police chief, said the investigation is ongoing and he anticipates arrests of other persons involved in the trafficking of heroin and cocaine in the Kennett Square area.


Both Bernabel and Balcom wree charged with delivery and possession with the intent to deliver heroin and cocaine, criminal use of a communication facility, dealing in proceeds of unlawful activities and criminal conspiracy. They were arraigned before District Justice Thomas Tartaglio and remanded to Chester County Prison in lieu of $50,000 cash bail.
