Wildcats 100s memorable season comes to a close with loss in Bert Bell League title game
By Brad Spahr
It was one memorable season for the Avon Grove Wildcats' 100-pound varsity team this fall.
This past weekend, the Wildcats magical journey came up just shy of their ultimate goal though.
Competing in the Bert Bell League championship game, Avon Grove suffered a 20-0 loss to the Downingtown Young Whippets last Saturday afternoon in the 100-pound finals at Garnet Valley High School.
Avon Grove closed out its 2009 season with a 10-2 overall record.
The Wildcats stormed through the playoffs with wins over Rose Tree (7-0) and Ridley (14-6) to reach the championship game.
In the 16-year history of the Wildcats youth football organization, only once before has one of their team's captured a Bert Bell title.
