Chesco Pops returns to Oxford High School
By press release
As part of its 2009 Summer Concert Series, the Chester County Pops Orchestra will return to Oxford Area High School for a performance on Wednesday, July 15 at 7 p.m., according to a press release. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students, and free for children 12 and under, and will be available at the door of the school located at 705 Waterway Road, East Nottingham.
Titled "Puttin' on the Pops," the program will feature a variety of Broadway and Hollywood hits, including "Puttin' on the Ritz," highlights from Wicked, medleys from Grease and the James Bond films, and the themes from The Pink Panther and The Magnificent Seven. The orchestra will also perform patriotic favorites including "America the Beautiful" and a Sousa march. Greg Kasander is the featured baritone and Erin Kauppila, the high school's director of instrumental music as well as a Pops member, will be a featured trumpeter.
The Chesco Pops, a 65-piece orchestra made up of many of the county's finest players, has performed at Oxford Area High School three times since the summer of 2007. Music director Jacques Voois noted that the school has become one of the orchestra's favorite places to play.
"The auditorium is a real gem," he said. "It has both visual beauty and acoustical integrity. In my opinion, Oxford has the finest high school auditorium in Chester County."
For this concert, the Chesco Pops is partnering and revenue-sharing with the Oxford Area Senior Center. A percentage of all ticket revenue will be donated to the Center.
