PARKESBURG -- A man was struck by an Amtrak train in Chester County on Friday.l
The incident happened just west of the Parkesburg station shortly before 6 a.m., said Craig Schulz, an Amtrak spokesman.
The man was hit by a Keystone train traveling between Harrisburg and New York. He was taken by medevac to a hospital, Schulz said. The manís condition wasnít known.
It also wasnít immediately known whether the man, who was not identified, intentionally put himself in front of the oncoming train or the incident was an accident. The investigation into the incident is continuing.
The train, which was carrying 34 passengers at the time, was delayed for about an hour and 40 minutes while authorities were on the scene. Passengers who were preparing to board that train in Philadelphia were placed on a Northeast Regional train to New York, Schulz said.
Some delays are continuing on the Keystone route. SEPTA was reporting delays on the Thorndale line due to Amtrak traffic issues.
