Thursday, June 13 marked the last day of elementary school for our children, Luke and Rachel. Our older son, Eric, “graduated” from Hillendale two years ago and has enjoyed (except for the homework!) his first two years at Patton Middle School. Since these events will bring to a close much of our direct involvement with Hillendale, I want to take this opportunity publicly to thank everyone there for giving our children – and many others – such a great start on their academic careers.
Too many people have been involved in our children’s’ experience for me to mention them all. However, from kindergarten through fifth grade, they each had caring, competent, and dedicated teachers. Additionally, all of our interactions with the staff at Hillendale – from the custodians to the office staff to the counselors to the bus drivers to the teachers to the administration – were positive and productive. The few issues that ever arose were resolved quickly and effectively. I’m sure many other great elementary schools exist throughout our state and the country, but I can’t imagine one that would have provided a better experience for our three children.
So, in closing, I offer a hearty thank you to everyone involved with making Hillendale the great school it is. You should be proud of the work you do there. I wish you continued success, and I wish you all a very happy and restful summer. Your next group of eager students arrive before you know it!
