PENNSBURY -- There have been several incidents of vandalism over the past few weeks at the old Quaker meetinghouse on Parkersville Road about three-tenths of a mile south of Street Road, according to a press release.
The vandalism first occurred about three weeks ago with a couple of small fires outside the building and torn pages from a bible were used to start small bonfires. At that time, the men’s bathroom was vandalized, and there were signs that someone may have slept inside the meetinghouse.
Last week, someone took the fire extinguished from inside the building and discharged it all around the inside, coating the benches and floor with white powder. These incidents were reported to the state police, who investigated.
It is hoped that neighbors will keep an eye on the property, reporting any strange activities to 610-268-2022.
The events of defacing have occurred just prior to the annual public opening of the Parkersville Meeting at 2 p.m. on Sept. 9. the trustees are scrambling to clean the place up, according to the press release.
Kennett Borough Police
On Friday, Aug. 17, someone stole three hanging plants from in front of a business located in the 100 block E. State Street, police said.
On Sunday, Aug. 19, at 1:25 p.m. in the 500 block of W. Cypress Street, a 75-year-old victim was approached by a male subject, approx. 5’10”, wearing an orange shirt, light colored jeans and a baseball cap, who repeatedly asked victim to ride with him. After subject agreed, the victim entered subject’s vehicle, a grey Toyota pickup. Inside the vehicle was a female. The subjects then drove the victim to a mushroom farm and robbed him, police said.
Anthony Flores, 26 of Wayne, was detained for an outstanding warrant after he was found sleeping in a parking lot in the 300 block of W. Cypress Street on Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 1:35 a.m., police said.
Philip Mustico, 35 of Landenberg, was detained for an outstanding theft warrant out of New Castle, Del., on Aug. 23, police said.
Jose Zavala-Baeza, 29 of Kennett Square, was arrested for DUI following a traffic stop in the 600 block of W. State Street on Thursday, Aug. 23 at 5:50 p.m., police said.
Sarah Talamonti-Peyton, 18 of Kennett Square, was arrested for a retail theft that occurred on Friday, Aug. 24 at 2:39 a.m. in the 500 block of W. Cypress Street, police said.
Efrain Esquivel-Nicacio, 33 of Avondale, was arrested for DUI on Friday, Aug. 24 at 8”03 p.m. following a traffic stop in the 600 block of W. State Street, police said.
Alejandro Hernandez, 22 of Landenberg, was arrested for a burglary that occurred at a business located in the 400 block of E. South Street on Saturday, Aug. 25 at 3 a.m., police said.
Someone stole copper pipes from a residence in the 800 block of South Mill Road on Saturday, Aug. 25 at 9:41 a.m., police said.
On Saturday, Aug. 25 at 2:15 p.m. at W. Cypress Street and South Mill Road, a 55-year-old victim was approached by a male and a female in a small pickup truck who asked for directions then grabbed the victim, put him in the vehicle and drove the victim to a baseball field and robbed him at knife point, police said.
Someone stole a bicycle from the front yard of a residence located in the 700 block of S. Garfield Street sometime between 3 and 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25, police said.
A residence located in the 500 block of Kenview Avenue was burglarized sometime between Wednesday, Aug. 22 and Monday, Aug. 27, police said.
Shawn Orsini, 24 of Wilmington, was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop on Tuesday, Aug, 28 at 1:10 a.m. in the 400 block of Center Street, police said.
A business located in the 100 block of South Mill Road was burglarized sometime between 5:40 and 5:45 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 27, police said.
