Ever want to dine at many of the restaurants and eateries in Kennett Square, but don’t have the time, or the money?
Now you can.
A guided, three-hour food tour will begin Sunday, May 25 and will run through November. It takes place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Each tour is limited to 16 people, and it’s first-come, first served. Price is $45 per person and even includes wine samplings and cooking demonstrations.
“This is a good way to promote the town and the restaurants that are in our town,” said Ann Vaughan, who is coordinating the walking food tour. “It’s for the tourist industry, but also for the locals for something fun and nice to do.”
Some of the restaurants participating in the walking food tour include Michocana Grill, Flickerwood Wine Cellars, The Market at Liberty Place, La Verona Italian Restaurant, the Mushroom Cap, Portabellos, Paradocx Vineyard, and Lily Asian Restaurant Cuisine Sushi & Grill. More restaurants may be added later.
Vaughan first experienced a walking food tour when she was in Rehoboth, and later in New York City. She was so excited about it, she decided to start one in her hometown.
“I just thought this would be great for Kennett Square,” she said. “Most are in sit-down restaurants.”
Each of the participating restaurants will provide a sampling of their food. Guests will spend 15 minutes to a half-hour at each location. Tours include food and drink tastings showcasing Kennett Square’s diverse cultural cuisine, the opportunity to chat with chefs and owners, cooking demonstrations and a guided tour of downtown Kennett Square.
Water is served at all the restaurants and wine is served at two locations. Tour participants will be required to show appropriate identification to enjoy alcohol on the tour.
The tours meet at Flickerwood Wine Cellars located at 116 W. State Street. Parking in Kennett Square is free on Sundays.
