KENNETT SQUARE

Kennett Square PD cited a 13-year-old Male, Kennett Square, PA, for Curfew violation on Sun. 3/9/14 @ 4:05am in the 100 block North Broad Street. The juvenile was released at his residence.

FOUND PROPERTY on Sun. 3/9/14 @ 10:50am in the 200 block North Broad Street: Huffy bicycle, red and black in color.

Kennett Square PD arrested Colin FORWOOD, 27, Kennett Square, PA, for Simple Assault and Harassment for an incident that occurred on Sun. 3/9/14 @ 2:54pm in the 300 block Roney Street. FORWOOD was released pending summons from District Court.

Kennett Square PD cited Kristin PALITA, 31, Kennett Square, PA, for Borough Code 3-4(a) Prohibiting Pets to Run at Large after her dog ran loose in the 400 block Chestnut Street and attacked another dog.

Kennett Square PD arrested John PRESTON, 54, Cochranville, PA, for DUI on Tues. 3/11/14 @ 9:38pm following a traffic stop at North Mill Road & Meadow Creek Lane. PRESTON was released pending summons from District Court.

Kennett Square PD detained Earl HAMPTON, 55, Kennett Square, PA, for an outstanding warrant out of Caln Township on Wed. 3/12/14 @ 1:36pm in the 700 block Center Street. HAMPTON was released to Caln Township Police.

NEW GARDEN

On March 22, 2014 at 12:17 am, a New Garden Township police officer was eastbound on W. Cypress Street when they observed a Honda Passport driving erratically. After conducting a traffic stop, the officer contacted the driver and front seat passenger. The officer detected an odor of burnt marijuana coming from within the vehicle. Both the driver, Colton Chew, 19 of Kennett Square and passenger, John James Salter, 19 of Avondale were also observed to have bloodshot glassy eyes. Both admitted to smoking marijuana a few minutes prior to being stopped. Chew was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and possession of a controlled substance. Salter was charged with possession of a controlled substance. Both were released pending an appearance at Magisterial District Court 15-4-04. The investigation is cleared by arrest.

On March 22, 2014 at 12:28 am, while on the aforementioned traffic stop, a New Garden police officer observed a vehicle almost strike the marked patrol vehicle which had its emergency lights activated. Officers contacted the driver, Mateo Ontiveros, 28 of Toughkenamon, who had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath along with bloodshot and glassy eyes. Additionally, the officer observed two open beer cans in the cup holder. Ontiveros had slurred speech and he appeared confused as to why police were speaking with him. Ontiveros was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI. After being processed it was learned that the name given upon initial contact was false and Ontiveros had an active warrant for failure to appear for a DUI in 2011. Ontiveros was arraigned by Judge Tartaglio of Magisterial Court 15-1-02 and remanded to Chester County Prison on $2,500.00 bail. The investigation is cleared by arrest.
