Kennett Square police cited Jose Castaneda, 21, and Omar Reza, 20, both of Kennett Square, for public drunkenness on Feb. 14 at 9:54 p.m at East South Street and Park Avenue. Castaneda amd Reza were released at their residence.
Kennett Square police arrested Mario Garcia-Sanchez, 28, Kennett Square, PA, for DUI following a traffic stop on Sat. Feb. 15 at 9:20 pm in the 500 block East State Street. Garcia-Sanchez was released at his residence pending summons from District Court.
Sometime between 6:30 pm Feb. 18 and 2 a.m. on Feb. 19, a residence located in the 300 block Juniper Street was burglarized. An iPhone 3, iPhone 4 and an iPod Nano were taken.
On Feb. 20, it was reported to Kennett Square police that sometime between 3 pm and 6 pm on Feb. 20, an iPhone5 was stolen from a business located in the 100 block Race Street.
Kennett Square police cited Eugene Boddy, 38, Kennett Square, for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness for causing a disturbance at a business in the 200 block South Union Street on Feb. 20 at 12:36 pm and 6:36 p.m. BODDY was released to a relative.
Kennett Square police arrested Elizabeth Treisner, 32, Landenberg, for DUI following a traffic stop in the 100 block East State Street on Feb. 20 at 10:48 p.m. Treisner was released pending summons from district court.
On Feb.27, 2014 at 10:22 pm, a New Garden police officer observed a vehicle travelling well below the posted speed limit in the 800 block of Newark Road. The vehicle was observed to drive off the right side of the roadway and cross over the double yellow center lines into oncoming traffic on multiple occasions. A traffic stop was conducted and contact made with the driver, Eduardo Duran-Isais, 18 of Modena.
Duran-Isais was observed to have bloodshot and glassy eyes along with an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his person, police said. Upon exiting the vehicle he displayed a staggered gait and was unable to correctly perform field sobriety tests. Due to signs of alcohol impairment, Duran-Isais was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI. Duran-Isais was processed and released pending an appearance at district court.
On Feb. 28, at 11:38 pm, a New Garden police officer observed a group of subjects standing at the rear of a section of closed businesses in the 300 block of Scarlett Road. A traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle leaving the area with no headlights illuminated. Contact was made with the four occupants of the vehicle, three of whom were juveniles, except for the front seat passenger, Mauricio Martinez-Juarez, 21 of Wilmington Del.
Martinez-Juarez initially provided a false name but was truthful after his Identification was located in the vehicle. Martinez-Juarez admitted to having marijuana and retrieved it from under his seat, police said. Martinez-Juarez was taken into custody for possession of the marijuana and processed; he was released pending an appearance at district court.
On March 2, at 2:06 a.m., a New Garden police officer was stationary watching traffic at the intersection of Baltimore Pike and Newark Road. A Honda Accord, travelling north on Newark Road, was observed to stop for the steady red signal and then make a right turn onto Baltimore Pike, where posted signs clearly prohibit. A traffic stop was conducted in the 1200 block of Baltimore Pike and contact made with the driver, Alonzo Gonzalez-Orozco, 25 of Avondale.
Gonzalez-Orozco was observed to have bloodshot glassy eyes and an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. After field sobriety tests, Gonzalez-Orozco was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI. Gonzalez-Orozco was processed and released pending an appearance at district court.
